Jigsaw Set To Have $20 Million+ Opening Weekend

It has been 7 years since the “final” Saw film, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter hit theaters on October 29th, 2010. But that doesn’t seem to have made much of a dent in the franchise’s box office potential, according to some sources.

Variety reports the newest entry in the series Jigsaw is set to have an opening weekend haul of over $20 million.

This seems high to us, but let us all never underestimate the drawing power of the Saw. We were thinking the film would go the route of failed franchise reboot Blair Witch back in September of last year with a soft opening around $9 million, but it seems Jigsaw will be opening more in line with franchise entries such as the original Saw ($18.2 million) and Saw 3D ($22.5 million).

While it seems the film will not be reaching the heights of the more popular entries in the series such as Saw II ($31.7 million), Saw III ($33.6 million), Saw IV ($31.7 million), or Saw V ($30.0 million), the film will not likely befall the low attained by Saw VI ($14.1 million) either.

I guess we’ll see come Monday morning, huh?

Do you plan to see Jigsaw in theaters this weekend? Let us know below!

Synopsis:
Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?
