This past weekend, Variety reported that Citadel and Sinister 2 director Ciaran Foy will be taking the helm of Paramount Players first psychological horror movie Eli.

Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing revised the screenplay by David Chirchirillo which was on the 2015 Black List, and Trevor Macy will produce along with John Zaozirny and Melinda Nishioka. Matt Alvarez will executive produce.

I was a big fan of Foy’s Citadel so I’m looking forward to seeing what the director has up his sleeve for this new film. Sinister 2 was a bit of a disappointment, but the man has chops and it is only a matter of time until he makes a new classic of the genre. Mark my words. Maybe Eli will be that film. We shall see.

Eli hits Jan. 4, 2019.

Synopsis:
A young boy undergoes treatment for a rare disease at a secluded clinic, which becomes a haunted prison with no way out.
