Michael Bay & Platinum Dunes set sights on Duel/Joy Ride inspired thriller Big Rig

Producer Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes just snatched up a pitch from writer Bragi Schut (Season of the Witch (review)) called Big Rig. And THR refers to the new thriller as a nod to Steven Spielberg’s classic Duel.

What, did they forget about poor Joy Ride, written by a young J.J. Abrams? Actually, maybe that’s for the best.

While the plot of Big Rig is currently under wraps, we do know the film centers on “a good trucker who runs afoul of the evil man who is responsible for many deaths.” And that the flick is inspired by Canada’s infamous Highway of Tears. A road where over the course of four decades, numerous women have been murdered or gone missing.

Mac Trucks & Serial Killers. Sounds like good times to me. That should actually be the film’s title. Much better than Big Rig. That sounds like an animated movie my nephew would watch on repeat.

What do you think of Platinum Dunes’ Big Rig thus far? Let us know below!
