With the Saw franchise gone and leaving a gaping void in Lionsgate’s Halloween festivities, the studio has managed to get an all new kind of saw to shred its way through the hearts of horror fans.

That’s right, kids! Mark off October 5, 2012, on your calendars as the day when Leatherface will be coming at you in the third dimension via The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D.

Directed by John Luessenhop and penned by Debra Sullivan, Adam Marcus and Stephen Susco, with the most recent drafts by Kirsten Elms and Luessenhop, look for more on Leatherface 3D or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, or whatever they’re calling it, soon.

In terms of plot there’s news of several different takes floating around as to what the film will be … a direct sequel to the Tobe Hooper classic or a new beast altogether. All we know for sure is that Bill Moseley will be returning to the horror franchise which put him on the map.
