It’s probably safe to assume that part of what led R. L. Stine’s Goosebumps books to sell over 400 million copies worldwide was due to the amazing hand painted cover illustrations from artist Tim Jacobus.

The Incredible Shrinking Fifth Grader was originally going to be an installment in the Goosebumps Series 2000 line, but was cancelled when Stine’s contract with publisher Scholastic expired. So while it’s a damn shame that the book never saw the light of day, Jacobus recently revealed that he had actually completed the cover art, which he shared with a Goosebumps fan upon request, who later uploaded it to a message board for all the world to see. And all I can say is wow, it belongs in a goddamn art museum.
