Director Vincenzo Natali made a splash with Cube, followed by other films like Splice and Haunter; but where he’s really come into his own is on the small screen, especially with “Hannibal,” for which he directed six episodes. So we’re pretty interested in seeing how he handles the pilot for “Tremors,” from Syfy and Blumhouse.

Deadline got the word that Natali, who’s been keeping busy with episodes of “Orphan Black,” “Westworld,” “The Strain,” “American Gods,” and more, has been tapped to direct the “Tremors” pilot.  It will be a continuation/reboot of the 1990 cult classic film, with original star Kevin Bacon returning. The project hails from Jason Blum’s Blumhouse TV and Universal Cable Prods.

Written by Andrew Miller (“The Secret Circle”), the series will focus on Valentine McKee (Bacon) 25 years after the events of the original film. The killer Graboid worms that nearly destroyed Perfection, Nevada, are back; and the town’s only hope for survival is McKee. But he’ll have to overcome age, alcohol, and a delusional hero complex.

Miller, who serves as showrunner, executive produces with Bacon, David Schiff, and Jessica Rhoades. This is Natali’s first time helming a pilot, but it’s also a reunion with Miller. They met in high school, and Miller starred in Cube.

Look for more soon!
