On September 5th Gravitas Ventures is releasing The Atoning on DVD, Blu-ray, and HD Digital on all platforms, with pre-orders open now on iTunes. The film will also be available via Redbox on the same date.

To celebrate the upcoming release, we have an exclusive clip plus a few stills to share along with the film’s new trailer and artwork.

Written, directed, and produced by Michael Williams, who also served as the film’s cinematographer, editor, and executive producer, The Atoning stars Virginia Newcomb, Michael La Cour, and Cannon Bosarge. The supporting cast includes Dorothy Weems, Alex Zuko, Sherrie Eakin, Ashlynn Lopez, Jessy Hughes, Kyle Wigginton, Nikki Caruso, and Bryan Benfield.

Production took place in a 140-year-old Victorian house in the director’s home town of West Point, Mississippi, with a cast and crew from the surrounding areas. Three days before production began, the production design team filled the entire home with furniture, decorations, and props generously donated or loaned to the film by the local community.

Synopsis:
Vera, Ray, and Sam, a seemingly normal family, are haunted by more than mere ghosts. The lingering horror of their past threatens their ability to function as a loving family until they become enlightened by a mystical encounter. From that moment on, they’re thrust into a horror worse than anything they’ve ever experienced.

Personal demons manifest and tear the family apart from the inside out as they come to terms with their past.
