What in the hell is going on with sequels today? With the exception of the Saw and Paranormal Activity franchises, it seems like further installments of successful films cannot get off the ground. Here’s a little bit more about that Strangers sequel we’ve been hearing about on and off for the last three years, but don’t get too excited.
New York Knicks star Anar’e Stoudemire is currently in discussions with Relativity Media to sign on to The Strangers 2 as an executive producer. No word on what that means for the prospective sequel or what talents a basketball player is going to offer up behind-the-scenes, but there you have it.
The original film was quite a sleeper hit in 2008, a real shock considering it had been shelved for so long that it was about to go direct-to-DVD when the studio decided to try a summer theatrical release. Keep watching this space for more about The Strangers 2; we’ll bring you every exciting detail.
