Dracula a badass again? Oh lord, please say it’s so! It’s been a while since the original vamp had the proper amount of bite, but if director Jaume Collet-Serra is to be believed, that’s all about to change.
In a recent interview with Aullidos Serra dropped the following on fans:
“Basically we intend to make a film based on Stoker’s Dracula, and I have to pay respect to the source material. That means you can save all those romantic vampire conventions for the thirteen-year-old girls. My Dracula will demonstrate who is boss and kick the asses of other vampires.”
Bless. Your. Heart.
Warner Bros. is firmly behind Harker, which they picked up as a spec script by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, for a re-imagining of Bram Stoker’s Dracula with Collet-Serra at the directorial helm. It focuses on Jonathan Harker as the Scotland Yard detective who is tracking Dracula, and the script sets up the sleuth as a potential new franchise character.
Harker will be produced by Appian Way partners Leonardo DiCaprio (who is not planning to act) and Jennifer Davisson Killoran in a co-production with Mad Hatter Entertainment. That label’s Michael Connolly will also be involved as a producer.
Look for more on this one soon!
