Janus Films has revealed that they are the home for the theatrical distribution of the 4K restoration of George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead. The announcement comes after a long silence since its premiere at the MoMA.

NOTLD sound designer Gary Streiner took to Facebook to reveal the plans, saying that the announcement “…feels a bit surreal, a bit anticlimactic at the same time.

The film will be making its first post-MoMA theatrical appearance on October 13th at the Film Forum in New York City. You can see the program reveal here, in the bottom right corner.

Janus is known for doing a lot of work with Criterion. While nothing is confirmed, it wouldn’t be surprising at all if the 4K restoration gets a Criterion edition after its theatrical run.
