Lodger Updated Again

The Lodger remade againAnother Lodger update, eh? It seems like one of these crops up every few years, but nothing ever comes of them for some reason.

This time out it’s Sony who are behind the new version of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1927 silent film, The Lodger, bringing on board newcomer David Ondaatje to write, produce and direct according to Variety. Not a bad first-time gig for a guy who previously only worked on shorts.

The Lodger was first remade by Hitch himself in 1932 as The Phantom Friend, then in 1944 as The Lodger, then again as The Man in the Attic in 1953, all four versions used the eponymous novel by Marie Belloc Lowndes as their basis. This new version will update the story to modern times, telling of a Jack the Ripper-esque copycat killer in modern-day LA.
