A Yorkshire Village Makes Murder Legal in The Book Club

There’s still some time left to contribute to The Book Club’s Kickstarter campaign (but you’ll need to act fast!), and the following info should be more than enough to make you fork out some cash.

From the Press Release:
WAIT… Just… wait.

I know that this is a press release, and worse yet it’s a press release for a Kickstarter, but it is 100% worth 128 seconds of your time! To open, here’s what other horror filmmakers and websites have to say about the project. At least read what they say, and then decide whether or not to fire this into the trash or help us make something brutally ridiculous happen.

“I would selfishly love to see this get made. If you love supporting quality horror, DO IT.” – The Soska Sisters (American Mary)
“This is a film that has success written all over it, and that’s pretty damn impressive, considering it hasn’t even been made yet!” – Addicted to Horror Movies
“Be part of a violent, rude movie!” – James Moran (Cockneys vs. Zombies, Severance)
“Happy to be a part of this VERY funny film! It’s going to be hideously charming.” – Andrew Lee Potts (pictured below; “Primeval,” The Hatching)

Are you still here? Still with me? Amazing. Ok, here’s the pitch – “GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF SMASHED INTO THE PURGE.”

Right? RIGHT? We need to reach as many horror fans as possible to raise £20,000! So much drama. Action! Tension!!

So the press release is below, and hopefully you’ll find some use for it. This film is happening no matter what. We start shooting SOMETHING in August, but obviously a £25,000 film will be quite different to a £5000 film. So help us out, and share the press release. Be a part of what we’re trying to do here.

All the very, very best,
Jamie McKeller
(Very hopeful, very very tired after three weeks of campaigning!)

Yorkshire Village Makes Murder Legal
Chester Mapleforth has seceded his cul de sac from the UK, and the first thing that he did was to make murder legal. But only if it’s kept within the postcode. A small film crew find themselves trapped in the neighbourhood and have no option but to record the terrible, awful events that unfold over the last six months of “Chestersberg.”

It’s The Great British Bake Off meets Silence of the Lambs.

The Book Club is the first feature length film from award-winning British independent filmmakers RedShirt Films. It’s an ambitious project stuffed with classic horror practical effects and is being funded through an all or nothing Kickstarter campaign that runs until June 28th in an attempt to raise the relatively small budget of £25,000. The Kickstarter is full to the brim with great perks and rewards, such as the opportunity to have head and body casts done for practical special effects, set visits, secret message groups, premiere tickets and of course digital rewards such as the score and access to an online screener of the film once complete. If successful, the project will commence filming in July 2017, with a completion date of February 2018. The film will then be submitted into horror festivals and events across the world, such as FrightFest, Screamfest, Dead by Dawn and The British Horror Film Festival with the ultimate goal of seeking distribution, both physical and online.

The project has just cast star of “Primeval,” “Alice” and “Lucky Man” – Andrew Lee Potts, and we are in conversation with several other actors from the world of British TV and Film.

Audiences can expect nothing but the finest in disgraceful special effects and comedy splatter-filled blood and guts, as previously seen in the award-winning webseries “I Am Tim Helsing” and short film The Final Girl, which was praised by acclaimed horror director Eli Roth.
