Ninja Theory’s highly anticipated game Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will launch on PS4 and PC on August 8 for $29.99. Those who pre-order will receive a comic book written by the game’s director Tameem Antoniades and drawn by 30 Days of Night’s Ben Templesmith.
At the end of the new trailer below, Ninja Theory’s Dominic Matthews explains that Hellblade won’t receive a physical release in order to keep the price down, hence why it will cost only half as much as most major releases. He also explains that if the game sells well, the door could be opened for more AAA-quality independently published games. So if you’ve had enough of the major publishers dominating the industry and would like to see more indie games with significantly higher production values, I implore you to purchase Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
Those pre-ordering will, at launch, receive an exclusive digital comic short, Hellblade: Senua’s Song. With words by Hellblade creative director Tameem Antoniades and art from multiple Eisner Award nominee Ben Templesmith, the comic comes from a creative collaboration between Ninja Theory and award-winning comic book publisher Valiant Entertainment.
