The golden age of horror has lost another of its stars as the gorgeous Elena Verdugo, who played Ilonka the Gypsy Girl in the 1944 Universal classic House of Frankenstein, has passed on at the ripe old age of 92.
Though she’ll no doubt be more remembered for her role as Consuelo Lopez in the hit TV series “Marcus Welby, M.D.,” horror fans will also remember her for her roles in Day of the Nightmare and The Frozen Ghost, which paired her again with the incomparable Lon Chaney, Jr.
We here at Dread Central would like to this time to offer our sincerest condolences to this Latina pioneer’s friends, family members, and constituents.
