Universal is looking to go all-in on its idea of creating an Avengers-style film universe featuring the studio’s most iconic Monsters by packing on the star power. We approve!

Next up, Cinema Blend caught up with Javier Bardem, who was doing press for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, to find out if there was any update to the rumor that he’d be playing Dr. Frankenstein’s creation… In the meantime, said rumor has just been confirmed in our Dark Universe story.

Yeah, well, there are talks,” says Bardem, “and I would love to be part of it. Because it’s an iconic… speaking of an iconic character! I have the size of the head. [Laughs] That’s for sure. They’re not going to waste a lot of money in makeup, that’s for sure.

What do you think of this casting choice? Who would you want to see don the bolts? Tell us below!

The first film in the new Universal Monsters Dark Universe kicks off with The Mummy starring Tom Cruise on June 9, 2017, with Bride of Frankenstein following on February 14, 2019.
