Go Behind the Scenes of the Practical Effects Used in The Void

If you haven’t seen the indie sci-fi/horror film The Void (review), you don’t know what you’re missing. While some may say that the story is a bit lacking, I’ve heard no one complain at all about the practical effects used throughout the film.

In fact, it’s the complete opposite. This movie boasts some of the best practical effects we’ve seen since Carpenter’s The Thing, which I know is ridiculously high praise, but I feel this film warrants it.

To show you just how much effort went into putting together the FX work, a video has been uploaded that shows just how detailed and intricate the designs were. This is the kind of stuff that horror fans beg for, and The Void delivers it in spades. Check out the featurette below!

The Void was written and directed by Jeremy Gillespie and Steven Kostanski and stars Aaron Poole, Ellen Wong, Kathleen Munroe, Stephanie Belding, and Kenneth Welsh.

Synopsis:
In THE VOID, officer Daniel Carter (Poole) happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road while he’s in the middle of a routine patrol. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that patients and personnel are transforming into something inhuman. As the horror intensifies, Carter leads the other survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it’s too late.
