David Fincher Will Be Directing World War Z 2
In a surprising…scratch that. In a SHOCKING bit of news, Variety is reporting that Fight Club, Alien 3 and Seven director David Fincher has been locked down to direct World War Z 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2013 zombie thriller. The site also reports that Brad Pitt will be back and that production is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2018. This will mark the first film directed by Fincher since 2014’s Gone Girl.
Now, the site is saying that this project hasn’t been officially greenlit as of yet but that we should expect to hear the announcement in the coming weeks. Since the sequel has been in talks for a few years now, I’m going to say that this is actually happening. Personally, I’m all for it. The book by Max Brooks is absolutely fantastic and the movie is actually really entertaining.
At this point, we’ll just have to wait and see what comes down the pipeline.
World War Z Synopsis:
When former U.N. investigator Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) and his family get stuck in urban gridlock, he senses that it’s no ordinary traffic jam. His suspicions are confirmed when, suddenly, the city erupts into chaos. A lethal virus, spread through a single bite, is turning healthy people into something vicious, unthinking and feral. As the pandemic threatens to consume humanity, Gerry leads a worldwide search to find the source of the infection and, with luck, a way to halt its spread.
