While most everyone nowadays knows Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk as the co-creators/executive producers of the hit TV sensation “Glee”, they first got their start on FX with the deliciously dark “Nip/Tuck”. Having ridden the family-friendly bonanza long enough, the duo are returning to the scene of their first crime sans singing teens.

FXAccording to TV Line Murphy and Falchuk are producing a new hour-long drama pilot for FX titled “American Horror Story”.

American Horror Story is a wildly brilliant original series,” says FX president John Landgraf. “Ryan and Brad, who created it together, are evil geniuses.

Entertainment Weekly scored a couple of additional details:

The pilot will be directed by Murphy with production beginning in April. Should FX order the pilot to series, production would begin in late spring and debut this fall. In addition to Murphy and Falchuk, Dante Di Loreto will also serve as executive producer of “American Horror Story”.

We knew this project was perfect for FX, says Falchuk. “That network put itself on the map for its big, bold, some might say slightly twisted shows, and the creative freedom we had on Nip/Tuck was incredibly liberating. John immediately got what we were trying to do, which was bring the horror genre to television but with our own subversive sensibilities. And we couldn’t be more excited to get started.
