ABC Taps a Director for its Once Upon a Time Pilot
Several days ago we reported that ABC was moving forward with several new pilot orders, and today one of them, “Once Upon a Time”, has landed a director: British helmer Mark Mylod.
Per Deadline Mylod (“Entourage”), who directed the pilots for the UK series “Shameless” and its US version on Showtime, has signed on to direct “Once Upon a Time” from “Lost” executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. The show centers on a woman with a troubled past who is drawn into a small town in Maine where the magic and mystery of fairy tales just may be real.
“Lost” co-creator/exec producer Damon Lindelof is also attached, but it’s not clear yet if Lindelof will be a consultant or executive producer on the pilot, in whose development he has been involved alongside creators Kitsis and Horowitz, who serve as exec producers. Magical/fairy tale pilots are red-hot this season with “Once Upon a Time” joining NBC’s “Grimm” and “17th Precinct”.
