Fan Made Short Film Gives a Taste of What a Found Footage Friday the 13th Would Be Like

Remember several years ago when there were rumors that Friday the 13th was going to get a found footage entry? While it seemed rather odd, the possibility opened a lot of doors on how to make the franchise fresh and original again. After all, there are only so many different ways you can do a traditional slasher before you have to start reaching for some rather absurd ideas (ahem Jason X ahem).

While that idea never materialized, it’s still an idea that I feel is rather valid and intriguing. And while many found footage films aren’t really all that great, there are some fantastic examples that prove the effectiveness of the medium. Just look at movies like Paranormal Activity, The Blair Witch Project, The Taking of Deborah Logan, and the like.

Below is a fan made short film that sends “YouTuber Magnus Mefisto” to New Jersey to investigate Camp Crystal Lake. However, just like everyone else that steps foot on Jason’s land, things don’t end well for him. It’s a cute film that runs across the same issue as most other found footage films (how did someone find his camera?) but it gives a taste of what could’ve been.

What are your thoughts? Would you still be interested in seeing a found footage Friday the 13th?
