Beep beep, Richie! The hype train for this film isn’t stopping any time soon!

The recently released trailer for the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s It proves the interest the public has in not only this particular film but also the genre as a whole. In 24 hours, the trailer was seen more than 197 million times, with 81 million of those views coming from US Facebook alone. This number absolutely decimates the previously held record of 139 million views that was held by The Fate of the Furious. After 36 hours of being released, the trailer was seen 246 million times.

Now, whenever someone writes a dumb article about “Is Horror Dead?“, just point them to this and tell them to shut up. Us horror fans aren’t going anywhere and the genre has never been as successful as it is now.

Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Nicholas Hamilton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jeremy Ray Taylor, and Sophia Lillis star with Bill Skarsgard, who portrays Pennywise. In addition, creature performer Javier Botet has signed on as The Leper, and Owen Teague plays Patrick Hocksetter, part of a group of bullies who torment The Losers’ Club.

It hits theaters on September 8th via New Line Cinema and Warner Bros.

The behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Chung-Hoon Chung (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), production designer Claude ParĂ© (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), editor Jason Ballantine (The Great Gatsby), and costume designer Janie Bryant (“Mad Men”).

Synopsis:
When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.
