Yesterday’s trailer drop for Andy Muschietti’s adaptation of Stephen King’s It was met with near universal praise. For most who were on the fence, the visuals, atmosphere, and tease of Pennywise were enough to convince them to not only give this adaptation a shot but to see it as a horror film well worth being excited for.

For Jacquie Lantern, it was all that was needed for a stroke of inspiration. Gathering her materials, she used makeup to transform herself into this new version of Pennywise the Dancing Clown, which culminated in the fantastic and eerie final result that you can see below. The amount of detail is wonderful, although I could see this being what James Wan would want Pennywise to look like, had he tackled the project.

We got the chance to speak briefly with Lantern, who explained that her love of makeup transformations like this one dates back to when she took 1st place in a local Halloween costume contest by turning herself into Regan from The Exorcist. What’s amazing about her victory is that a local haunted attraction called The Dead End Hayride saw her photo on Twitter, reached out, and hired her as a makeup artist, a position she’s held since 2013. Lantern also stays involved in the horror community as a writer for Haunt News Network and, in her own words, spends as much time as she can “….working with my good friend Ryan Schaddelee at Outpost 31 Productions.

Lantern has also contributed her work to various music videos, including The Afghan Whigs’ “Lost in the Woods,” Wolfgang Gartner & Tommy Trash’s “Hounds of Hell,” and more.
