Is Resident Evil: Code Veronica Coming to PlayStation 4?
An interesting little moment happened on the German USK rating board when there appeared to be a rating for Capcom’s Resident Evil: Code Veronica… for the PlayStation 4. Strangely enough, that rating can’t be found anymore on the site. However, a Neogaf user took a screenshot, which is how the news spread.
There hasn’t been any confirmation from the developer that this is a thing, but given that an official rating board would publish this information, it is more than likely to happen, hopefully sometime this year. As for it being a remastered edition, that’s also up in the air. For all we know, it might be a simple port of the 2011 remaster that came out on Xbox 360 and PS3.
Originally released on the Sega Dreamcast in 2000 (the first non-Sony platform Resident Evil title), Code Veronica broke from the traditional pre-rendered backgrounds and instead utilized 3D environments and added in camera movements, a first for the series. The game followed Claire Redfield as she dealt with a viral outbreak in Antarctica and a prison island in the Southern Ocean.
The game was incredibly well received and is considered to be one of the best entries in the Resident Evil franchise. Personally, I never much liked it, but this may very well be what I need to give it another shot.
