The Vampire Diaires Wants You to ‘Catch VD’; Asks If You’ve ‘Got Wood?’

Oh, what scamps they have at The CW! As part of the network’s promotional efforts for the return tomorrow night of its popular series “The Vampire Diaries”, they’re amping up the double entendres with two ad campaigns, one urging viewers to “Catch VD” and the other asking “Got Wood”?

In addition to videos for the campaigns, they’ve been displaying “Catch VD” billboards in LA and NYC, which EW.com provided a look at (see below). Asked for comment, The CW’s spokesperson released this statement: “VD simply stands for Vampire Diaries, and anyone who thinks otherwise should probably get themselves checked out.

While Damon (Ian Somerhalder) tries to get the truth out of Jules (guest star Michaela McManus), he asks Elena to keep an eye on Rose (guest star Lauren Cohan), a situation that turns unexpectedly dangerous. Caroline (Candice Accola) and Matt (Zach Roerig) try to be honest about their feelings for one another, and Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) reaction to Caroline’s generosity comes as a surprise to her. Damon struggles to hide his true feelings when a life-and-death crisis hits him harder than he expected. Matt Davis also stars. Marcos Siega directed the episode written by Sarah Fain and Elizabeth Craft.
