A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Volturi from the Set of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

Forget the Bella/Edward/Jacob triangle. Forget that pasty Cullen clan. For our money the most compelling characters in The Twilight Saga are the Volturi, and today we have the first glimpses of them from the set of Breaking Dawn, including Dakota Fanning and Michael Sheen, returning from his Eclipse hiatus.

Per MTV’s Hollywood Crush below Sheen you’ll see Dakota Fanning getting some final touch-ups on her make-up while Christopher Heyerdahl shows off his luscious locks and Jamie Campbell Bower looks on approvingly from the sidelines.

As for what they might be filming, it seems a bit early in production to be bringing out these big guns. After all, MTV reminds us, Breaking Dawn is going to have a pretty long shoot since they’re filming both parts of the movie back-to-back. Either director Bill Condon has decided to film the final “fight” sequence really early in the production process, or the Volturi are going to have a couple extra scenes than they did in the book. We already heard rumors that Alice is going to have a vision of the fight scene, and we’ll see that, but maybe there are going to be some shots of the Volturi when they find out about Bella and Edward’s baby to add some continuity to the films and amp up the suspense?

Guess we’ll find out on November 18, 2011 (the premiere date for Breaking Dawn Part One), if they’re right.

Synopsis:
In the highly anticipated next chapter of the blockbuster The Twilight Saga, the newfound married bliss of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) is cut short when a series of betrayals and misfortunes threatens to destroy their world.

After their wedding Bella and Edward travel to Rio de Janeiro for their honeymoon, where they finally give in to their passions. Bella soon discovers she is pregnant, and during a nearly fatal childbirth Edward finally fulfills her wish to become immortal.

But the arrival of their remarkable daughter, Renesmee, sets in motion a perilous chain of events that pits the Cullens and their allies against the Volturi, the fearsome council of vampire leaders, setting the stage for an all-out battle.

The suspenseful and deeply romantic Breaking Dawn continues the epic tale of supernatural fantasy and passionate love that has made The Twilight Saga a worldwide phenomenon.

Part 1 of Breaking Dawn (which is being filmed simultaneously with Part 2) is slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2011. Part 2 will follow a year later on November 16, 2012.
