A new documentary entitled 78/52 is making some noise at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and right now we have a sneak peek for you that examines one of cinema’s all-time greatest scenes!

In the clip director Alexandre Philippe provides a unique look at the sound design behind the shower scene for Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. More specifically how Hitchcock created the sound effect of a knife piercing skin. It’s ghoulish and glorious.

The film’s title refers to the number of setups (78) and the number of cuts (52) in the notorious sequence.

Guillermo del Toro; Peter Bogdanovich; Elijah Wood; Bret Easton Ellis; Neil Marshall; Danny Elfman; Karyn Kusama; Apocalypse Now editor Walter Murch; Janet Leigh’s actress daughter, Jamie Lee Curtis; and Anthony Perkins’ filmmaker son, Osgood Perkins, all appear.
