Sound the alarm, because this is huge news for horror nerds! R. L. Stine is going to write comics for Marvel. Let that sink in. The author of the 400+ million selling Goosebumps series and the 80 million+ Fear Street series is going to write for the biggest comic book publisher in the world. He said the following in a

Reddit AMA session:

I’m writing a series of comic books for Marvel– my first comics ever. But I’m not allowed to talk about them yet.

At this point we can only speculate. Scholastic published a Goosebumps graphic novel adaptation back in 2006, so this new project won’t be the first time that the series has ventured into the medium if it does indeed end up being part of the beloved franchise. It could also be something brand new, and yes, it could even be a superhero story. Stine clearly has great respect for costumed heroes and villains, as his Goosebumps book Attack of the Mutant was a loving homage to the comic industry as a whole.`

Mr. Stine introduced countless young minds to the joys of reading, so we’ll get behind the man whatever his comic ends up being.
