Body Bags Has a Music Video to Die For

The official video for the song “Body Bags” by Liz Brennan has now been released on YouTube in all its freakish glory, and you can check it out right here. You can also find the song on iTunes and Spotify.

Brennan was also kind enough to provide us with the following statement:

“Body Bags” was an interesting and massive undertaking. I wrote the song halfway as a joke and halfway as cool and coy. I was at a friend’s party and was playing guitar and started with a sexy “Hey you.’ Then I thought, “What is the creepiest thing I can say that they won’t expect next?” And it worked!  It was a lot of fun to write.

Earlier this year I filmed the video. I intended to make it “Weekend at Bernie’s meets Cry Baby.” I asked to borrow my friend’s husband for the shoot. I told her, “I just need to toss him around a bit.” The director was like, “No, no… he needs his shirt off…. you need to make out with him,” and I had to go back to my friend and was like, “Actually I need to make out with your husband for 3 days.” Luckily they thought it was very funny.

For the video I felt the “body” was too alive and we weren’t tossing him around enough… last minute we ran up to Woodstock, had a coffin delivered, and got some really great shots. The new body was actually played by a high school student. We kept a hat on his head so the change wouldn’t be obvious… but I was really nervous that I was too rough with him! But I think we got way more of the humor in!
