Live 72-Hour Paranormal Investigation Set for the Zozo Demon House This Weekend
If you’re a paranormal buff, you’ve no doubt heard of a connection between a demon named Zozo and Ouija boards; and an expert on the subject, Darren Evans, is joining forces with YouTube site LiveSciFi this Halloween season for a live-stream investigation of a place in Oklahoma known as the Zozo Demon House.
We have all the details and links you need to join in the adventure. Machinima has even signed on to participate!
From the Press Release:
Two well-known paranormal researchers are coming together for an unprecedented investigation this Halloween. LiveSciFi, the largest paranormal site on YouTube, and Darren Evans, co-author of THE ZOZO PHENOMENON, are combining forces to investigate the location known as the Zozo Demon House in Oklahoma City.
The investigators will spend 72 hours straight locked into the location, live-streaming the entire time, beginning Friday, October 21, 2016, at 10 pm ET/7pm PT.
The entity known as Zozo is frequently referred to as THE Ouija demon because of its unexplained appearances during spirit board sessions. Currently on YouTube there are over 289,000 videos of purported encounters and paranormal activity linked to the entity. Tim Wood, founder and lead investigator of LiveSciFi, and Evans are no strangers to Zozo.
Evans is perhaps the most famous Zozo researcher, documenting his experiences since 2008 online, in print, and in film. Evans has appeared on the Travel Channel’s popular “GHOST ADVENTURES” program and as himself in the 2014 film I AM ZOZO. His book into the demon’s origins and methods, co-authored by prolific author Rosemary Ellen Guiley, was released in May of this year. (Evans will be giving away 15 copies of his book during the 72-hour lockdown.)
His journey began when, in 1982, he discovered a strange two-sided Ouija board buried in the basement of a house. “Playing” with that board introduced the demon into his life, with destructive and terrifying results.
Wood, whose YouTube channel has 400,000 subscribers, has been in contact with the entity since 2007, when he and his team first encountered the entity during a Ouija session at a haunted location. There are now scores of videos on his channel and website of Ouija sessions that also display paranormal phenomena, including EVPs and film anomalies.
When Machinima, one of the largest global digital video programmers, learned of the planned investigation through colleagues at LA-based production company One World Studios, they decided to support the endeavor, sending their own team of YouTube stars to witness it first-hand LIVE on camera. Machinima’s Inside Gaming crew – Brandon Winfrey, Chloe Dykstra, and Stephen Ford – will be joining the team on their first ghost hunt, simulcasting and re-broadcasting their experience via the Machinima and Inside Gaming channels and attempt a LIVE 360 VR Ouija experience.
“We’re so excited and a little nervous to be staying overnight in the ZoZo House,” said Dykstra. “…but it’s too interesting to pass up!” added Winfrey.
Together, along with Wood’s team, they will investigate the house where Evans and his family members experienced a series of unexplainable events – a house that is alleged to be actively haunted to this day. But neither is approaching the hunt lightly.
“We’re going to have an exorcist with us,” Wood said. “That way if something happens to one of us, we can be cleansed and exorcised immediately.”
Additionally, they are having the original Ouija board Evans found in the crawlspace replicated.
“It was a huge, menacing looking board. On the ‘dark side’ were weird inscriptions like someone took a tool and carved into its surface. Someone engraved ‘Zozo’ where ‘Ouija’ was usually written; the opposite side was a vintage William Fuld Mystifying Oracle,” Evans describes.
Darren became obsessed with the board and initially the contact with the Zozo entity. The destructive repercussions of those encounters began to affect his relationships and his family, which led to his decades of research on the subject. His book documents never before released historical accounts of the name Zozo being addressed as an actual demon going back as far as the fourteenth century. (You can learn more by listening to Darren’s recent interview in Episode 15 of Brainwaves: Paranormal and Horror Talk Radio.)
The investigation will be shown in real time on LiveSciFi.tv, Evans’ blog, and the LiveSciFi YouTube channel beginning at 10 pm ET/7pm PT on October 21.
