We are LOVING the current season of “American Horror Story” entitled, “American Horror Story: Roanoke” and given the strength of it we’re looking forward to seeing where it goes… especially next season. Speaking of which…

THR is reporting that FX has renewed Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s horror anthology series for a seventh season.

Ryan, Brad and their team of remarkable writers have done an amazing job of keeping American Horror Story endlessly inventive, shocking and entertaining, and we are honored to move ahead with them on the seventh installment,” FX Networks and Productions CEO John Landgraf said. “The sustained success through six installments only proves how intensely the series resonates with fans. AHS confronts our deepest fears with unmatched suspense and style. Each new installment is a cultural event, hotly anticipated for its theme, imagery, cast and twists. We thank the creators and their team, the cast and everyone who has continued to make AHS such an extraordinary series.

The pickup comes three episodes into the sixth season of the drama, which premiered last month to 5.6 million in the adults 18-49 demo and 11 million total viewers in live-plus-three numbers. The season six premiere currently stands as the third-most-watched episode in franchise history and the fifth-highest-rated episode in the demo.

“American Horror Story’s” numbers were no doubt helped by the increased speculation that surrounded season six. Unlike previous seasons, no details about season six were released prior to the September 14 launch. FX, in collaboration with Murphy, went so far as to create 24 different misdirect promos, of which only one revealed the true theme of the season. (The theme has been since been revealed to be a docudrama twist on the famous lost Roanoke colony.)

The show is in its sixth season, and we’ve always done everything by the book,” Murphy told THR earlier this year. “We wanted to [create a] different experience for the fans this year.

In keeping with that directive, no other details have been released about season seven, except that it will premiere sometime in 2017.

“American Horror Story” airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on FX.
