Frankenstein’s Army Director Shares The Profudis Concept Art

Crazy creatures and the horrors of war were at the center of 2013 horror flick Frankenstein’s Army, and with his second feature, director Richard Raaphorst looks to be playing around with similar ideas. His next creature feature is titled The Profundis, and he just showed off some concept art over on Twitter.

The art shows a large vessel that appears to be turning into a tentacled monster, and as Raaphorst recently told Rue Morgue, a ship does indeed undergo such a transformation in the film. So too does the crew, who find themselves mutating into horrifying monsters.

It’s about a group of smugglers using an old-fashioned U-boat, collaborating with a Christian terrorist cell to smuggle a secret biological weapon,” Raaphorst explained to the site. “It starts to leak into the submarine and infect the crew, and they devolve back into subhuman monsters. This story continues my fascination with military horror, but also my fascination with creatures, and trying to come up with something I’ve never seen before.”

Head over to Rue Morgue for more art and info, and be sure to follow @RichRaaphorst on Twitter!
