Dead by Daylight Sales Surpass 1 Million

Sales of the multiplayer slasher game Dead by Daylight from publisher Starbreeze Studios have now topped 1 million in two months of release, as confirmed by Gamasutra. It recuperated its budget in less than a week and first month sales alone were numbered at 270,000, which equaled a revenue of $4.74 million. This is a particularly impressive feat when you consider that the game has yet to receive either a physical or console release, and it certainly didn’t have a huge marketing push behind it as many bigger titles have.
Although horror is mostly seen as a genre with a niche appeal, we do love it when it occasionally manages to tap into the mainstream and make big bucks. If the sales of Dead by Daylight are any indication, the similarly-themed Friday the 13th game has a bright future ahead of it, especially considering the popularity of its license.
