Piranha 3D concept art Now that Piranha 3D (review here) has been released to the public to chomp on boobies and other appendages, we thought we’d take a look back on how it begin, filming and all, and have broken it down for you so that you can find every toothy bit of information you need in one blood-soaked location.

Back in the day we started whetting your appetites with reports and pictures from the set in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Meanwhile, before you stay out of lake waters permanently, Lake Havasu wants you to know there are no piranhas in their waters.

Piranha 3D is directed by Alexandre Aja and stars Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Jerry O’Connell, Kelly Brook, Riley Steele, Steven R. McQueen, Jessica Szohr, Paul Scheer, Adam Scott, Christopher Lloyd, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Synopsis
Jaws… lots and lots of jaws. From acclaimed director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) comes the new action thriller PIRANHA 3D, in the latest eye-popping 3D technology. A new type of terror is about to be cut loose on beautiful Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new razor-toothed residents. But our heroine (Elisabeth Shue) is seriously outnumbered, and with only one chance to save the lake and her family from totally being devoured, she must risk everything to destroy the aquatic carnivores herself.
