Scott A. Johnson Sets Free His Vermin
Horror scribe Scott A. Johnson (Dread Central’s Cold Spots, Deadlands, City of Demons) returns this month with VERMIN: Book One of the Stanley Cooper Chronicles, the first of a three-part horror-noir series centered around a reluctant clairvoyant and mayhem.
Check out the plot from the official press release:
“Stanley Cooper was an ordinary guy until a construction site accident left him dead for three minutes. Ever since, he’s been able to see ghosts, restless spirits, and the energy created by all living things. A panicked telephone call from a stranger drags Stanley into a bizarre world of chaos and death. At the same time Pittsburgh is besieged with a string of strange robberies, brutal murders and mysterious disappearances. Accompanied by Taylor (a skeptical detective) and his best friend Maggie (a practicing witch), Stanley hopes to find whatever is sucking the life energy out of the city in time to stop the mayhem, if he can live long enough. “
This is Johnson’s tenth book since showing up on the writing scene in 2002. When asked what inspired his latest work, Johnson had this to say:
“I’ve always been a fan of Dashiell Hammett and that whole noir genre, and I’ve always wanted a hero who could be anyone, not just the jock or the guy with chiseled features. Stanley Cooper could be that schlub walking down the street and no one would look twice at him.”
Look for the release of VERMIN later this month. Dig on the artwork below.
