Now this is what we call news, my friends! Around the Dread Central offices it’s an endless debate over which was better: “The Twilight Zone” or “The Outer Limits”. Personally I have to side with “The Outer Limits”, if only because of the sheer amount of monsters and aliens the show hurled at us with reckless abandon. Well, that and the fact that they are controlling the horizontal. They are controlling the vertical.

According to Variety MGM has hired writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan – whose credits include four of the seven Saw films along with the Feast series and The Collector – to pen a feature take on the sci-fi series that aired on ABC from 1963-65.

MGM has been in limbo for most of the past year. It received a sixth extension in mid-July on debt payments from its 140 creditors, who have given the beleaguered studio a forebearance that will expire September 15th. Around the same time as the latest extension, the Lion paid Melton and Dunstan for a feature script based on their take, which is due in October.

Good to see MGM making some strides. Honestly? It’s hard to imagine a film landscape without them. That being said … BRING ON THE CREATURES! We’ll take our Zanti Misfits extra-insecty please!
