Every few months we seem to get some sort of update on the status of Zombieland 2, and it was most recently reported back in April that filming was scheduled to begin this August. The month is of course almost over, and it doesn’t appear that filming has actually begun, but we do have a big update for ya today!
Speaking with Kevin Smith and Greg Grunberg on AMC’s show “Geeking Out” over the weekend, Zombieland and Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick ensured that the sequel is still in the works, and they also revealed that Woody Harrelson will be back to kill some more zombies.
“That is breaking news that we’re on Zombieland 2 right now,” they said during the interview. “We’re sitting with Woody [Harrelson] tomorrow and are going to sort of walk him through some of the stuff we want to do. All the cast is pretty excited.”
No word yet on who else is returning or if Ruben Fleischer will again direct.
In Zombieland, a shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, a gun-toting tough guy trying to find the last Twinkie, and a pair of sisters trying to get to an amusement park join forces to travel across a zombie-filled America.
