Dario Argento Gives His Blessing – Suspiria Remake a Go!
After months of various people chasing the rights for a remake of the Dario Argento classic Suspiria, the maestro himself has finally given the project his blessing. Sort of. Well, a little of his blessing at least.
According to Bad Taste Marco Morabito will produce and “David Gordon Green will be the director; Dario Argento finally has agreed to…the remake. It took nine months to convince the director, who in the end accepted because, as Morabito reveals, ‘[he was] convinced that his movie is a masterpiece and can’t be overshadowed’.”
A rumor that Marilyn Manson would be in the flick was also quickly debunked by Morabito. “No, it’s just a rumor. I read it too on the Internet, and I don’t know where it comes from! We never even thought about that.”
Look for more soon and let the fireworks begin.
In the original film Jessica Harper starred as Suzy Banyon, a young American ballet dancer who arrives at a prestigious European dance academy run by the mysterious Madame Blanc (Joan Bennett) and Miss Tanner (Alida Valli). But when a series of bizarre incidents and horrific crimes turn the school into a waking nightmare of the damned, Suzy must escape the academy’s unspeakable secret of supernatural evil.
