Billy Ray Brewton makes his directorial debut with the throwback flick Show Yourself, set to premiere later this month at the third annual Bruce Campbell’s Horror Film Festival in Chicago, Illinois. The event runs from August 18th through the 21st, with the screening taking place on August 19th at 10pm.

While we wait, Show Yourself some stills and poster art below!

The film was my chance to pay homage to the horror films of the 70’s and 80’s that inspired me,” says writer/director Brewton. “We took all of the traditional horror tropes that helped define the genre, and turned them all on their heads. It’s a ghost story for a modern generation, with the isolation from technology taking the guise of the spooky old house on the hill.”

The film stars Ben Hethcoat (The Babysitter Murders), Corsica Wilson (L.A. Macabre), Barak Hardley (Mockingbird), Clancy McCartney (Youth Group), David McElwee (“Boardwalk Empire”), Stephen Cone (The Wise Kids), and Robert Longstreet (Take Shelter, The Signal).

Synopsis:
When his friend Paul dies suddenly, Travis heads into the woods to say goodbye. As he deals with his grief, and the way it is affecting he relationships in his life, he starts realizing he might not actually be alone in the woods. Curiosity turns to horror as Travis comes face-to-face with something both inexplicable and frighteningly familiar.

He came to let go, but something won’t let him.
