Some sad news has come in to close out the day… popular character actor David Huddleston, best known for playing the title character in The Big Lebowski, passed away earlier this week at the age of 85.

Huddleston, who also dipped his toes a few times in the horror genre, died this past Tuesday, August 2nd, of kidney and lung disease in Santa Fe, New Mexico, according to Variety.

His career spanned several decades, and along with horror fare such as Nightmare Honeymoon (1974) and The Man Next Door (1997), Huddleston can be seen in the likes of Roman Polanski’s Frantic, Uwe Boll’s Postal, Locker 13, and TV series “The Sixth Sense” and “Tales of the Unexpected.”

Born September 17, 1930, in Vinton, Virginia, Huddleston served in the Air Force and then studied acting in New York on the G.I. Bill. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Koeppe.

We here at Dread Central send our condolences to David’s family members and friends… thanks for the memories!
