E3 2010: Twisted Metal Crashes Back on PS3

Sweet Tooth has officially returned … and he’s bringing a small army with him. The new world of Twisted Metal focuses more on team play with players weaving in and out of oncoming freeway traffic, dodging missiles as a helicopter circles overhead, gatling gun blazing away before swooping in with a huge magnet to lift you out of the kill zone.

You’ll be able to launch into team-on-team battle with NUKE mode! Giant metal monoliths of Sweet Tooth and Doll Face hang above the city, inspiring their factions to tear each other to pieces. Each group head is perched atop a building with HUGE guns turning anything that comes near to pulp. Devise a plan of attack and capture the enemy leader, dragging them along the back of your vehicle with a chain.

Watching the gameplay shows a badass looking truck with grinding wheels ready to munch up your “sacrifice” as flames reduce the leftovers to ash. Feed your truck, aim your missiles, and turn your opponent’s giant statue into raining steel dashed dreams of world domination. GAME OVER! Snipers pop off drivers as they round corners, escaping massive bowling balls. Heated chases head into theaters, sending seats sailing through the air like flaming dominoes. Twisted Metal is set to reduce your brain to a bubbling pool of cerebral lava, and you’ll love every minute of it! Here are some specifics from David Jaffe and Scott Campbell, co-founders of Eat Sleep Play:

E3 2010: Twisted Metal Crashes Back on PS3

“We know this is going to be the best Twisted Metal ever released. 16 players online, 2-4 player split screen, amazing new game modes, helicopters, motorcycles, sports cars, all battling it out in highly interactive levels with all the skill, speed, and strategy you could ask for! It’s been a long while since the last console Twisted Metal was released, but we think the wait will have been worth it. We’re crazy proud of the new game and are looking forward to entertaining all of the loyal TM fans as well as earning many new Twisted Metal devotees with this title.”
