World War I Goes Supernatural in Upcoming Game Ad Infinitum

Warfare’s already horrific enough, but German developer StrixLab decided to go even further with its upcoming WWI game Ad Infinitum (Facebook), which adds a touch of supernatural terror to the First Great War. In addition to enemy soldiers, you’ll have to deal with bloodthirsty creatures that are adding even more mayhem to the endless conflict.

There haven’t been a whole lot of WWI games up to this point, but seeing as the announcement trailer for DICE’s Battlefield 1 currently has 42 million views on YouTube, we can expect to see a lot more in the near future. Shockingly, EA executives were reluctant to greenlight the game as they felt that its target audience would not have heard of the First World War, which means that either the execs were horribly misinformed or the level of stupidity and ignorance that runs rampant in society indicates the world has a dark future ahead of it.

Synopsis:
Ad Infinitum is an atmospheric single-player horror game, which puts you into a World War I setting seen through a first-person perspective. You find yourself in the trenches of a forlorn battlefield where you are being hunted by vicious creatures. Solve puzzles to clear pathways and sneak through trenches to hide from mysterious foes. Avoid dangerous threats and try to escape this world of pain and death. The surrealistic setting is based upon historical background information that was used as an inspiration to create the game world.
