One studio that has probably netted fans more horror movies than just about anyone else over the last decade has just acquired one more to add to its vast library.

According to Screen Daily Anchor Bay Films has acquired North American rights to Marcos Efron’s remake of the 1970 British thriller And Soon the Darkness starring Amber Heard and Odette Yustman.

And Soon the Darkness tells the chilling story of two American girls on a bike-riding excursion in a remote part of a foreign countryside. When one goes missing, the other must find her before darkness falls and her worst fears are realized. The original was set in France. This version is set in Argentina, where it was filmed.

Studio Canal is co-producing and co-financing the film. Amber Heard will also serve as a co-producer, her first time as a producer. Commercial helmer Marcos Efron makes his feature film directorial debut.

Anchor Bay plans to roll out the film theatrically in autumn.
