Don Dohler’s The Alien Factor Invading Blu-ray Any Day Now

News that Don Dohler’s cult favorite The Alien Factor is arriving on Blu-ray next week somehow slipped through the cracks amid the flood of recent b-movies to Blu announcements of late.

Fred Olen Ray’s Retormedia is behind this limited edition release (1,000 units) of Dohler’s 1978 homage to 1950’s sci-fi creature features. The Baltimore-lensed monster mash sees a spaceship crash-landing in a small backwoods town. The ship contains specimens meant for an intergalactic zoo: the Inferbryce (an insectoid creature), the Zagatile (a tall, feral Bigfoot-like monster), and the Leemoid (a stop-motion monstrosity brought to cinematic life by future Terminator effects artist Ernest Farino). As the bodies pile up, an enigmatic alien in human form arrives to stop the wild alien animals from killing any more innocent human life.

What the film lacks in budget it certainly makes up for with ambition. I’ve said for years this is a movie screaming out for a remake.

Amazon has the disc listed as being released on Sunday, June 19th. In other words, pre-order now because The Alien Factor Blu-ray begins shipping out Monday.

Aside from boasting a new 2K HD widescreen scan from the 16mm negative, Retromedia’s disc comes loaded with extras…

Special Features:

  • Cast and Crew Commentary Track
  • “Behind the Scenes” Featurette
  • “The Television Years” Featurette
  • “Meet the Cast and Crew” Featurette
  • The Alien Factor Reunion
  • Alternate Leemoid Sequence with Commentary Track
