Trailer Debut: The Controversial New Flick – The Killer Inside Me
We are pretty damned sure that you have heard all about the ruckus Michael Winterbottom’s The Killer Inside Me caused overseas at the European Film Market due to its brutality, so to say our eyes are very focused on this flick is an understatement. Like the first clip from the film, the first official trailer is pretty tame as well.
So the question beckons — controversy or hyperbole? We’ll be able to judge for ourselves come late summer, 2010, which is when IFC plans to release The Killer Inside Me through its theatrical and VOD platforms.
The film is directed by Michael Winterbottom and stars Casey Affleck, Jessica Alba, Elias Koteas, Kate Hudson, Bill Pullman, Ned Beatty, and Simon Baker.
Synopsis
Based on the legendary novel by pulp writer Jim Thompson, Michael Winterbottom’s THE KILLER INSIDE ME tells the story of a handsome, charming, unassuming small town sheriff’s deputy named Lou Ford (Casey Affleck). The film takes place in an idyllic West Texas town in the early 1950’s. As a lifelong resident, Ford has difficulty juggling his long-term girlfriend Amy (Kate Hudson), the prostitute named Joyce (Jessica Alba) that he mistakenly falls for, and the sociopathic tendencies inside him. In Thompson’s savage, bleak, blacker than noir universe, nothing is ever what it seems.
