E3 2016: New Dawn of War 3 Gameplay Trailer Brings Light to the Grimdark Future with Massive Explosions
It’s no secret that I’m a massive Dawn of War fanboy. I have over 1500 hours spread across both games and their various expansions, not to mention countless nights spent brushing up on my lore.
I’ve never much gone for the tabletop, but there has been a recent explosion of Warhammer 40k games with titles like Space Marine, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, and the upcoming Space Hulk: Deathwing. Hell, games like Warhammer: The End Times – Vermintide and Total War: Warhammer have even drawn me into the fantasy universe. It is a good thing I cannot get enough of decapitating Orcs in space.
It was a sad day when THQ dissolved and the fate of Dawn of War 3 because unknown. There was only a trickle of information available at that point, teasing to massive scale epic conflicts. I was elated when Sega announced that my favorite franchise was alive and well, with the brilliant minds of Relic Entertainment still at the helm.
This E3, the Emperor has seen fit to answer even more of my prayers, with a brand new gameplay trailer during the PC Gamer E3 show. Check it out:
I could watch Gabriel Angelos and his band of the Emperor’s finest make bloody chunks out of silly space elves all day. From the trailer we can see that the scale of the original Dawn of War is back, with a focus on large, coordinated troop movements. From Dawn of War 2, we can see the return of mighty heroes that field titanic weaponry to turn the tide of the battle in your favor. And explosions. Lots and lots of explosions.
I’ll have plenty of more details soon after my demo and interview with the team tomorrow, so check back tomorrow night for more information. If you’re as big of a Warhammer 40k fan as I am (and why wouldn’t you be?), I’ll be sure to ask the questions you want answered.
