From the Press Release:
“Day 5,” a six-part dramatic series from Rooster Teeth Productions (“Red vs. Blue,” “RWBY,” Lazer Team), is set in the immediate aftermath of a fatal sleep epidemic. It features a principal cast that includes Jesse C. Boyd (The Choice, “The Originals”) as Jake, Walker Satterwhite (“OMG!”) as Sam, Davi Jay (“The Walking Dead,” “True Detective”) as Ellis, Stephanie Drapeau (“Finding Carter”) as Ally, Lee Eddy (“Red vs. Blue”) as Alexis, Aaron Spivey-Sorrells (Lazer Team, “American Crime”) as Cain, Garrett Graham (The Divergent Series: Allegiant, “American Crime”) as Dave, Joel Heyman (“Red vs. Blue,” “RWBY”) as Bill, and Jessica Schwartz (“American Crime”) as Nicole.
“Day 5” was written by Josh Flanagan, Chris Demarais, Aaron Marquis, and Mark Bristol. Flanagan and Bristol also direct.
Flanagan warns: “A quick note on content — this is definitely a mature series. Themes, situations, imagery, violence, gore, nudity… all that fun stuff. So it may be too intense for younger viewers. For everyone else, I think you’re in for a wild ride.”
After a fortuitous drug bender saves his life, addict Jake (Boyd) ventures out, unaware that most of the world already died in their beds. Battling sleepless fatigue and encroaching delirium, Jake teams with a scrappy teenager (Satterwhite), overnight doctor (Drapeau), and red-eye pilot (Jay) to search for answers… and just maybe find a way to sleep again. Set in a world of insomniacs, late-shift workers, and roving psychotics, “Day 5” presents a unique vision of the apocalypse that fuses serial drama and thriller around a human story of survival and redemption.
