Did you just feel that slight chill? That was hell freezing over completely.

The day that any fan of horrorpunk, and punk in general, never thought they would see is finally happening. After 33 years, the original lineup of The Misfits is reuniting for this fall’s Riot Fest!

Details at this point are still mostly speculation, with the promise of more to come, but the news was broken this morning on the official Danzig Facebook page:

They said it would never happen… Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only, Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein. The Original Misfits are reuniting for Riot Fest in Chicago and Denver.

The last time that all three men shared the stage together was October 29, 1983. Danzig would go on to form Samhain before forming the long-running band of his own name.

Following years of lawsuits over the rights to perform as the Misfits, Jerry Only would re-form the band in the mid-90s with Doyle on guitar duties and new vocalist Michale Graves. Following Graves’ departure, Doyle would also leave the band to form a new band called Gorgeous Frankenstein, which would eventually evolve into the band Doyle. He has also joined Danzig several times over the past decade to perform classic Misfits tracks together.

Jerry Only has soldiered on touring under the Misfits banner, having taken over lead vocal duties in addition to his role as bass player.

Tickets are now available on the Riot Fest website. Stay tuned to Dread Central for more details as they become available!
