The other day we told you about Leigh Scott’s Witches of Oz 3D and treated you to an outtake in which co-star Lance Henriksen worked with an uncooperative kitty. Today we have a promo trailer for the fantasy thriller that updates L. Frank Baum’s classic kiddie tale.

Witches of Oz follows the exploits of the grown Dorothy Gale, now a successful children’s book author, as she moves from Kansas to present day New York City. Dorothy quickly learns that her popular books are based on repressed childhood memories and that the wonders of Oz are very, very real. When the Wicked Witch of the West shows up in Times Square, Dorothy must find the inner courage to stop her.

Witches of Oz boasts quite the impressive cast: Chistopher Lloyd (as the Wizard of Oz), Lance Henriksen, Ferris Bueller’s girlfriend Mia Sara, Re-Animator Jeffrey Combs, Silent Bob sidekick Jason Mewes, Lord of the Rings hobbit Billy Boyd, ex-WWE wrestler Al Snow, and relative newcomer Paulie Rojas as Dorothy.

Having graduated from Asylum mockbusters like Transmorphers and Syfy original movies such as Bird Flu Horror to bigger budgeted, more ambitious films like Witches of Oz, writer-director Leigh Scott describes the film as a dream project in this impressive looking first promotional trailer that mixes film footage with behind-the-scenes video, much of it consisting of Scott telling us about the origins of the project. Or as a co-worker of mine asked as I watched the video, “Is he playing the Cowardly Lion?
