The new fright flick from Martin Owen, Let’s Be Evil (review), has found itself a good haunted home with IFC Midnight. Read on for the details.

From the Press Release:
IFC Midnight announced today that the company is acquiring US rights to Martin Owen’s LET’S BE EVIL. The film was written by Martin Owen with story by Elizabeth Morris and Owen, based on an original idea by Jonathan Willis. The film stars Elizabeth Morris, Elliot James Langridge, Kara Tointon, and Isabelle Allen and was produced by Jonathan Willis. The film made its world premiere at January’s Slamdance Film Festival, with Owen being hailed as a “young Christopher Nolan” by the event’s founder, Paul Rachman, as reported in VARIETY.

In LET’S BE EVIL, three chaperones are hired to supervise an advanced learning program for gifted children, who wear Augmented Reality Glasses to assist in their education. Contained within a secure, underground facility, events quickly spiral out of control.

Notes IFC Midnight: “Martin Owen has crafted a truly original film that seamlessly blends elements of a classic thriller with innovative direction and style. We are thrilled to be bringing this fascinating movie to US audiences.”

Martin Owen added: “IFC Midnight has a history of releasing movies as the filmmakers intended; they are the perfect partner to embrace the unique identity of LET’S BE EVIL.”

Reviewer Chris Lambert of FILM COLOSSUS, commenting on the film’s immersive nature, writes: “It’s one thing to encounter a good old-fashioned thriller. It’s another to encounter [one] that’s making use of cutting-edge stylistic choices that completely change the viewing experience. LET’S BE EVIL refreshes the classic elements of a thriller and makes them more potent than ever before. First person, virtual reality-esque cinema is still a way off, but LET’S BE EVIL is leading the charge. It will absolutely be a reference point for filmmakers and movie-lovers.
