Sound is a hugely important part of any film or visual series. More important, in fact, than the picture itself because as any industry professional will tell you, people will watch something with bad visual quality and good audio but will instantly turn off something with good visual quality and bad audio.

So the new web series Shudder, which focuses on auditory horror elements, sure seems like an experience that we’d be up for. Full details can be found below.

From the Press Release:
You’re not just hearing things, and that definitely isn’t the wind.

Thrillsville Productions is proud to announce Shudder: The Series, a forthcoming web series with a focus on the auditory aspects of things that go bump in the night.

Created and curated by award-winning filmmaker Mark Bessenger (Bite Marks, Ninja Zombie, and the upcoming Confessions), Shudder: The Series is an audio-based anthology series in the grand tradition of “Inner Sanctum” or “The CBS Radio Hour,” but with a modern twist.

“Each episode stars one actor who tells his/her tale from a first-person perspective,” Bessenger says. “The installments will be enhanced with some music cues, sound effects, and visual imagery that plays into the tone of the piece with the sole intention of creeping out the listener.”

Launching April 1, 2016, on the series’ official YouTube channel, Shudder: The Series promises an array of genre talent lending their voices to the creepy cause.

The entirety of the first season will be written by Bessenger, with the option to open future episodes to guest writers and talent. The initial seven episodes, already announced, include:

1. “Crucifixion” performed by Stephen Twardokus (AN AMERICAN GHOST STORY)
2. “Puddy” performed by Eric Dean (GEORGE: A ZOMBIE INTERVENTION)
3. “Night Terrors” performed by Caitlyn Marie Wagner
4. “Stuck” performed by Jon Cahill (BLOODY BLOODY BIBLE CAMP)
5. “The Tune” performed by Steven Richards (WEREWOLVES IN HEAT)
6. “Second Floor Walkup” performed by a mystery guest
7. “The Wraith of Mossy Rock” performed by Kieran Biggs (CONFESSIONS)

Talent signed on for future episodes includes: Peter Stickles (Cemetery Gates), Michael Varrati (Tales of Poe), Sarah Nicklin (The Sins of Dracula), Michael McKelligon (You’re Killing Me), David Alanson Bradberry (Bite Marks), Dana Kjeldsen (Costigan Bloch), Joseph Graham (Edward), Randy Frank (The Peripheral), Jackson Palmer (The Daughter), and Dudley Beene (First Period).

…and just as the Crypt needs its Cryptkeeper, each episode of Shudder: The Series features opening title narration from actor Charlie David, star of hit horror series Dante’s Cove.

Furthermore, the series boosts an ethereal and haunting opening theme, composed by Hollywood music icon Rossano Galante (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Gods of Egypt, Bite Marks).

“Shudder: the Series needed a distinctive opening theme, something that generated fear, dread and desperation,” Bessenger says of pairing with Galante. “Rossano understands cinema and, particularly, the music that accompanies my fictional worlds. We ‘get’ each other. He is a true artist whose musical style complements my images.”

With an array of seasoned genre voices and an acclaimed composer contributing to its audio landscape, Shudder: The Series promises a uniquely fun experience in fright.

Shudder: The Series launches April 1, 2016, on its official YouTube Channel.
